The Wisdom of New Year Resolutions And How To Make Them Come True – Literally One-Step-A-Time #AMCoffee

New Year Resolutions And Change

HASHTAG: #AMCoffee

Happy couple

New Year is usually associated with promises and resolutions, commitments and decision-making that could truly transform individual’s life for the better: to be stronger and more vivacious, more energetic and more beautiful in everything they attempt to do.

What many miss is that a huge plan for change is usually a culprit. That is why New Year Resolutions got a bad-aftertaste reputation.

It is not about resolutions and promises we make to ourselves – they are all cool and necessary. It is that our mind cannot adjust without “pain” to new things in life routine that has been exercised for ever.

What is a way to resolve this conflict? Very simple, actually.

It is implementing your Plan for Global Personal Change with a tiny-tiny one change! And stick with this change until it becomes your second nature. Then move into your next step of your Grand Plan in changing your life.

Change, then, will be viewed and observed by you as a welcome thing to do. It would be something non-threatening, thus, very much welcome by your and by your subconscious mind.

Take a look at the comments section at some amazing things you could practice – tiny step at a time – to truly become the one who radiates JOY, HAPPINESS, AND WONDER with LIFE..

    1. Drink A Glass Of Water As Soon As You Wake Up
This rehydrates your body, revs up your digestive system, and gets things flowing. You may notice positive changes like clearer skin and better digestion. Bonus points if you add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.

    2. Do Not Check Your Email Or Phone For At Least An Hour
Do you sleep with your cell phone next to you and grab for it first thing when you wake? This is not a good habit. If you choose to resist the temptation to check your email and Facebook feed until at least an hour after waking up, you’ll find that your mind is more clear, focused and happy.

    3. Think Of One Thing For Which You Have Gratitude
This sets the stage for positivity throughout the day. If you come up with three or five things, even better.

    4. Step Outside And Take A Deep Breath
Fill your lungs with fresh air. Even if it’s cold outside. This only takes 10 seconds! It reminds you that you are alive and breathing.

    • karen hinkle says

oh do i know that feeling and you are right i do it some time and it sure feels good gets the blood flowing and me moving

    5. Move Your Body
You don’t necessarily have to do an intense workout before breakfast, but moving your body even a little is a great way to get the blood flowing and shake the body into wake-up mode. Simply doing a few stretches is a great option. Or turn on your favorite song and dance like no one is watching.

    • karen hinkle says

oh Jack get Grannie moving every day i guess that’s why when i went to get my bone density test the lady said you have good reflexes

    • One of my goals is to move more and exercise through this winter. It’s the one season where I really slack…since I can’t go outside and be active.

    6. Take Time To Eat A Healthy Breakfast
Rather than reaching for a box of cereal, focus on getting real foods in your body. Eggs, soaked oats, and smoothies are all great options. (And they really don’t take that much time to prepare.) Try it out.

    7. Say Your Affirmations
Look into the mirror and say something positive to yourself. Some ideas:

    • I am thankful for my smile.
    • I am ready for joy and happiness in this moment.
    • I am open to new ideas and thoughts.

Don’t check my email for an hour??? I think I would have a panic attack LOL :O)

  13. I do sleep with my phone next to my bed because it is my alarm. I usually grab it first thing so I can input my temperature since I practice fertility awareness.

  14. I am thankful for bloggers who inspire me, like you. I can NOT live without my coffee which is the first thing I grab in the am.

    • Laura at AMCoffee says

      Terri,
We gotta meet at the AM Coffee regularly, sweets.
You are the one who inspires me with YOUR writing and attitude.
Thank you for all you do.

  15. I am way too dependent on my phone. I do grab it first thing after showering and getting dressed. I’d like to try working on not checking it until my morning prayer and devotions are done, but I’m definitely not there yet!

    • Laura at AMCoffee says

      Megan,
You are not alone in doing so. When we start focusing on the moment and what we do in it, have peace and know that ‘that thing in the phone’ won’t run away – it will feel liberating. That’s what I was practicing last year.

  16. Those are all good tips! I try hard to stay away from computer when I am not working. I also try to have a family night once a week although it doesn’t always happen.

    • Laura at AMCoffee says

      Jeannette,
One of my last year’s things to do was to allow myself not to worry about anything about when I’m not at the computer.
Just focus on the moment and things I was doing when I was doing them.
I feel much healthier and more at peace now.

  17. Actually, I’ve never had a cup of coffee in my life (I don’t like it at all), so make mine tea. I work remotely, so email is with me all of the time, but I definitely do drink my wonderful, fair-trade, loose-leaf, high grade tea in the morning!

    • Laura at AMCoffee says

      Heather,
I am a HUGE Fan of herbal teas!
I drink them by many cup a day! And now, when it’s chilly and even cold outside, I love to add some lemon to my green tea, too.

  18. I like your ideas. Tomorrow I’m going to avoid looking at my phone and computer for a while after I wake up. I should step out for some fresh morning air too.

    • Laura at AMCoffee says

      Liz,
Once you liberate yourself from the fear that that stuff on the phone will run away from you – you will start to enjoy life MORE!

  19. This is so very true! One small change at a time, and we can do anything we put our minds to.

  20. I have my own New Year resolution and I hope that I can follow through. Thanks for your post.

    • karen hinkle says

  21. I have always been told that when it comes time to change things within your self, baby steps are best. If you try to go at it full force and change everything all at once you are likely to crash and burn.

  22. I haven’t made any new year resolutions. I have been making lifestyle changes. Eating healthy and going to the gym again regularly.

  30. Ramona Koon says

I’ve decided this year not to diet, but to eat healthier, drink more water and less coffee. I’m also adding light yoga to my routine.

  31. This is a great list. My phone serves as an alarm, too, so it’s always beside me when I sleep.

  32. I sleep with my cell phone. I check and respond to email 24/7 and even have it set where I can hear it in the shower. The thought of not looking at it for an hour after I wake up is terrifying to me.

  33. I have been working on being healthier in 2016. I started Hula Hooping and it is a great exercise. It can burn 7 calories a minute. I have been drinking water as soon as i wake up and i am starting to see a difference.

  34. I have to practice on drinking a glass of water as soon as I wake up. I’ve heard so much about the benefits of doing it and I actually did it before, but didn’t continue. Going to try again. 🙂

  35. One of the things I have recently started doing was some type of personal development. Early morning when I have my coffee is the perfect time. It’s really made a huge difference for me!

  39. CourtneyLynne says

Omg great tips!!! I’m so bad at not being on the computer… The computer and phone Ughh….

  40. I usually get my morning with an herbal tea or energizing green smoothie, but I do switch up my morning routine from time to time with coffee. It’s definitely a wonderful way to jump start the day, especially if I have a long, sometimes hectic day ahead of me.

  41. Love the tips! I’m so following some of them! Thank you so much for sharing it!

  42. All great tips! i’m doing some of these changes myself and So far so good. I’m getting exercise and eating healthier meals.
