You love eating meat? And Dairy? You may well be aware that both product categories are rich in Protein. That’s why we eat both, you’d exclaim! Of course that’s the reason, among others.

Do you know that the animal proteins require a highly acidic environment to be digested and moved through your digestive system?

Have you also considered that the “overflow” or overproduction of acid used to digest animal proteins is left in your stomach, tissues, blood and needs to be neutralized? Our bodes like it a nice, non-acidic or alkaline environment to function in.

So, how does the process of acid neutralization work? Those familiar with chemistry know that we need certain minerals for reaction to happen. In our bodies, such mineral is CALCIUM! Where does Calcium reside? Oh, in our bones! This very calcium is frequently used to neutralize the overflow of acid in our body, so that you feel good and are able to function.

The vicious cycle of acid neutralization repeats itself for many years leaving many people depleted of this mineral – Calcium – and with brittle bones that break. What is it called? Oh, OSTEOPOROSIS.

good morning ladies, hope your day is going well. while I have you here I just wanted to clarify something. I had a blast last night at the party and was able to have great conversations. there where some fb friend requests and I did not accept them. I am very cautious who is friended on fb. this is where I post photos of my children and their activities for my family to enjoy. I don’t usually friend someone that I have not met in person or do not know well. I just don’t want anyone to have hurt feelings if I don’t accept your friend request. On the flip side if you would like to talk with me via email I am certainly open to that. just send a pm on fb and voila, I reply.
thanks for understanding my pre cautions for my families privacy and safety.

I started to do that but was not diligent enough. it became time consuming so I just stick to family and close friends. less stressful. lol.

    • Good morning!!! I drink lots of milk, but not enough – any more ideas how to incorporate it into my daily diet are welcome. I did start snacking more on grated mozzarella rather than chips…

    • Virginia Rogers says

Good Morning all!!! 🙂 No unfortunately I avoided dairy for many years, if I drink milk or eat dairy such as ice cream, get bad stomach pains. Probably have a lactose problem just never bothered found easier to avoid. Definitely was not the greatest choice apparently, Am now on 50,000 units vita. d a week and oscal and my Dr. sending me for bone density test as thinking why fractures not healing. My kids on other hand I always gave them milk and dairy products and neither has ever had a problem and both drink milk etc. 🙂

Choose from LOW FAT Dairies like Kefir, Greek Yogurt, Fermented Dairies

    – High saturated fats contribute to “bad” cholesterol (LDL) level in blood, which increases risk for coronary heart disease
    – Limit consumption of cheeses that are high in saturated fats. Choose low-fat Mozzarella cheeses when you crave cheese

FERMENTED DAIRY PRODUCTS LIKE KEFIR HAS AMAZING BENEFITS TO ENJOY
Read the whole post on Kefir and Other fermented foods I made about the benefits which can blow your mind away!

    – Because of the type of organisms that ferment Kefir, nearly all of the lactose from milk remains, making it available for many who are otherwise lactose intolerant.

    – Being full of probiotics, Kefir has a strong influence on your immune system, boosts gut health, and improves the strength of bones. It is, in every sense of the word, a true superfood. Whatever benefits you expect from eating a good yogurt, you will get in spades with Kefir.

    – The commercial brands of Kefir come with flavored and unflavored varieties , but the flavored ones usually have more calories. Choose a brand that lists at least 12 different probiotics on the label.

    • Rose Lewis says

      Exactly true.

    • wendy c g says

We eat mozzarella cheese sticks, and I love Greek yogurts. Never heard of Kefir, I will have to check it out.

    • I’ve had some of the Kefir products before and really liked them… especially since they were friendly for us who are lactose intolerant Greek yogurt is getting to be so very popular.. 🙂 I saw a cookbook once about cooking with Greek yogurt and I wished I had the $$ for it. Amazing recipes!

    • Rebecca Swenor says

I usually get low fat dairy everything. I don’t thing I could even try Kefir because I don’t like yogurt.

      • Karen Hinkle says

Rebecca give it a try I didn’t like it either but they have so many different varity now you will be surprised

    • Rachael Roberts says

I am going to have to try Kefir, sometimes I can’t handle milk products when it is hot or I get sick. We always have string cheese on hand for the kids.

    • constance ralph says

I haven’t heard of Kefir..I will be on the look out for it..I love yogurt and we eat a lot of cheese in our house

    • thia beniash says

hmmm, not fond of any things mentioned. are there such things as kefir candy bars? that would get a smile on my face.

    • Rachael Roberts says

I am going to share this with my sister who has Hep C ,she got it working in the medical field & I am always looking for anything to improve her health. Thank You so much for the info!! Plus she has to worry about her LDL

    • But for babies (under 2 I think) whole milk products are ideal. so why is it so hard to find unsweetened whole milk yogurts for my baby. I don’t want him to have sugar even if it’sorganic!!

    • Virginia Rogers says

So true, should be trying some of these, wish could get my girls to also, when they were home I tried even to get them to drink lower fat milk but insisted did not like.

    • Wendi Watson says

why i was not born in Wisconsin is beyond me I am a cheese head but i buy the string cheese in mozzarella always! i am a cottage cheese baffoon but i can’t just drink a glass of milk only on occasion

    • Elicia P says

We tried Kiefer here. I will not drink it as I do not like milk products. My son took a few sips and my husband shunned it all together. Too bad as it is pretty good.

FACT –> The Americans is at the top of the least with the most dairies consumed per year per person.

FACT –> The American women over age of 50 have the highest rate of bone fracture.

Don’t you see the paradox? Everybody consumes a “ton” of dairies, yet we end up with a nation of “fractured” women.

    How do you handle that?

    – Load up on Broccoli, Spinach, and other Green Leafy Vegetables
    Tofu with added calcium
    – Orange Juice –> however, do not overload your diet with it, as it is high caloric!

Many would ask about SOY drinks as a substitute for many dairies. Every now and then, it is OK. However, do keep in mind that Soy has high Estrogen content. Those who want to lose weight do not want to add more estrogen to their bodies, as it does prevent you from losing weight. Actually, it can help you to gain a bit more.

    • Rose Lewis says

There is no comparison to the real thing ever (real milk).

    • wendy c g says

I’ve been making smoothies and adding spinach, carrots to them. Kids don’t even know they are getting veggies.

    • Fact: We’re the only animal that continuously drinks milk after weening… and drinks the milk of another animal! 😀

    • Rebecca Swenor says

I did not know that about soy. That is interesting. ty for the info

    • Rachael Roberts says

I have to be careful too much dairy & I get kidney stones. I might try the soy because I need to gain weight & have never been able to find a way that works I gain a few pounds just to lose them again. Most people don’t realize it is just as hard to gain weight for some people & I am one of them as it is for others to lose it.

    • Karen Hinkle says

Oh I love all my green veggies and I needs a good smoothie recipie and we car county folk and we live of the land

    • constance ralph says

We also eat a ton of broccoli. I was pleasantly surprised that all my girls love it. I also like to add spinach into soups to try and get the kids to eat it.

    • Rachael Roberts says

I love veggies & so do the kids they snack on them all the time

    • thia beniash says

I am glad you said that about soy. I don’t mind it but I would mind the lbs it may put on. I like 2 percent milk. just regular cow milk. moo

    • My great-grandma had osteoporosis and died of a hip fracture caused by it. I have to be super-careful. Since my baby started draining me of everything when I was pregnant I started loading up more on the broccoli and the green leafys

      • Elicia P says

My son drained me. My tooth cracked in half when I was 6 months pregnant. i had to wait until I had him to get it fixed. It was pitiful

    • Virginia Rogers says

Funny I do not do dairy and have fractures not healing am 44, but i probably eat more leafy greens than most. According to my doctor it is combination and because we do not get enough sun (just rare here- summers too short and mostly rain) and without dairy does not help.

    • Wendi Watson says

i love salad and i always make sure there are spinach greens in it! my dr put me on a vitamin D vitamin but it make me sick so i dont know what to do

HOW DO WE SUPPLEMENT AND NOURISH OUR BODIES WITH ENOUGH VITAMIN D AND CALCIUM, IF WE DO NOT EAT DAIRIES AND MEATS?

One of the prominent figures in science is Dr. T. Collin Campbell, who dedicated his life to a thorough research of nutrition for the livelyhood of people. His highlight of his career is so called China Project, a comprehensive study of diet and lifestyle in China. This amazing individual and scientist has contributed his mind and effort in discovering the linkiges between diseases and foods we consume.

Based on Dr. Campbell’s studies and many others, to reduce risk for Osteoporosis, you could do the following:

    – East Plant-based diet, Whole Foods it’s called.
Doesn’t mean you cannot have dairies and meats either. What you need to do is add, for example, veggies to your protein-based meals to minimize acidity in your body!

Do strength-bearing exercises, i.e., Weight Lifting!
Yes, you do need this in your life to make your bones stronger and reduce risks of osteoporosis. Walking, jogging would contribute to this as well!

Minimize and even exclude highly processed foods from your diet, as they set you up for chronic diseases later in life.

    • wendy c g says

My doctor has me on the Paleo diet. It’s hard to cut out processed foods but worth it. Since I’m in menopause early I have to take calcium and vitamin d daily.

    • I have a lot of digestive problems so I can’t eat too much meat.. I juice a lot and I add in a variety of fruits and veggies, plus chia seeds. With my disabilities, my exercises are limited and I wish I could find more to do.

    • Rose Lewis says

Do not wait until you experience the bad and, as always, say “I should have done….”

    • Rebecca Swenor says

I use to love to weight lift but since I had both shoulders done which one was done twice therapist said I wouldn’t be able to anymore. 🙁

    • Karen Hinkle says

We try real hard and stay away from processed foods it it not good for us I know it is fast and easy in our fast paced life but in the long run it is not good for us there are ways to prepare meals at home that you can plan ahead and make good healthy meals just takes some time

    • thia beniash says

I have tried to remove all foods with high fructose in it. I have lost three lbs but I am not sure that is the reason.

      • I’ve been trying the same. My supermarket just got in a new line of items that uses xyletol as the sweetener, including ketchup and chocolate syrup. It REALLY helps to have a replacement, no?

    • constance ralph says

I have really been slacking on my exercise. .I felt so much better when it was part of my everyday routine

    • Rachael Roberts says

I have digestive issues too & it is very hard for me to do most types of exercise due to many limitations due to disc bulges in my back, severe bunions & the list goes on thats why I have to go to a pain specialist

    • I need to exercise! I walked around the corner yesterday and barely made it!! I guess that’s my start…

      • Karen Hinkle says

ladies get your grand children over for the weekend if you have them you who have children at home know they keep you moving all day long and you wont even know you are exerciseing LOL my grandson keeps me moving morning till he is in bed

    • Virginia Rogers says

My doctor has been working on trying to get more help for me to eat healthier, is hard on fixed income getting ride to store once a month, most fresh goes bad before get to use and buying frozen and packaged as cannot stand long to cook is terrible for me. Also being on no weight bearing on legs only time I get out is to store or an appointment makes many exercises hard to do. I just pray everyday will get better. 🙂

    • Elicia P says

I am not a processed food fan. There is too much junk in it. I try to buy whole foods and when I can not I try to buy the products that have the least amount of ingredients.

Vitamin D and Calcium – Dairies or No Dairies?

Vitamin D works in the body under certain conditions. According to Dr. T. Colin Campbell, when we eat diet high in animal proteins like eggs, dairy, meat, then the production of the supercharged Vitamin D in our bodies could be lowered and even shut down.

Low levels of Vitamin D could lead to cancers, osteoporosis, lower immune system response.

Also, we have too much of supplementation of our bodies with Calcium, the powerful form of Vitamin D cannot function in such environment.

    What is the way out?

Actually, look at AM Coffee #4 to find some answers.

    • Very true… and it’s amazing that there are so many other sources for essential vitamins than we think about or know about.

      • joann tompkins winborn says

I love my milk and could not imagine giving it up but I do balance my diet with lots of fruit and veggies and i get out and take walks as often as possible

    • wendy c g says

      Good to know.

    • Rebecca Swenor says

That is interesting info. I didn’t lack of vitamin D could cause cancer etc. thanks for info. 🙂

    • Rose Lewis says

Excess of anything is overdoing a good thing.

    • thia beniash says

I take a vitamin d supplement each morning and make sure that I get out in that sunshine and soak up natural vitamin D.

      • Elicia P says

Vitamin D is great for us people in the northern parts as in the winter we lack it. It also has immunity booster in it. In the winter months I take about 6,000 IU’s and my son gets 500IU’s.
On a side note, studies have shown that mothers that consumed D3 while pregnant the chance of their child developing schizophrenia later in life decreases (great knowledge for those people who have mental illnesses running in their family).

    • constance ralph says

Thanks for this info..I better cut back on my egg consumption. .I eat them just about everyday

    • Rachael Roberts says

I have to take Vitamin D bc I have adult Rickets but I love eggs, meat & dairy I was just lucky my Dr found out I have it so I can at least take a supplement.

    • Lower vitamin D has also been linked to infertility.

    • Virginia Rogers says

Definitely so true am working on it! 🙂

    • Wendi Watson says

i know we must must must have our vitamin Dand yes we need to get out in the sun they say at least 5 minutes a day

WHY PEOPLE REMAIN THE ONLY MAMMALS WHO KEEP FEEDING ON BABY FOOD – MILK?

COWS do not drink milk, yet they have some of the strongest bones ever!

All animals feed milk to their babies, including people. The difference is that in the animal world, once the baby is grown, it stops consuming mother’s milk. Not true to a human baby.

We keep feeding our growing child with milk day after day after day. Then why do we have the highest level of bone fractures, calcium depletion in the world?

Refer to AM Coffee #4 to see some facts and “why’s” behind it!

  8. CoffeeTime says

    amcoffee
    mother and baby

PEOPLE ARE THE ONLY SPECIES IN THE MAMMAL WORLD WHO FEED THEIR BABIES WITH THE MILK FROM … OTHER MAMMALS. WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

The studies done in France and Israel share one very important detail.

If a mother while she was pregnant drank milk, and her baby has been fed milk in the first two years of development – these two components product a very sad result.

The risk of that baby of becoming DIABETIC increases dramatically!

FYI: The company that did the study in France and Israel could not get funding in the US. Why, would you guess? Simple as the day! The Dairy Industry has such a huge lobbying power and Government protection that there’s NO WAY they could allow such study to go forth!

This could be just one reason of why not to drink milk.

Please notice that FERMENTED dairy foods are different from their Source, the Milk.

    HOW AND WHY?

During the fermentation, the milk product is becoming a different product indeed. The active bugs transform milk into a new level of a dairy to consume by our bodies. These bugs are called probiotics. They maintain a healthy gut flora, allowing all the benefits of foods you consume to become part of your functioning system – your healthy living.

Drink up your kefit and good yogurts. But watch for at least 10-12 active bug strains to be present in your fermented foods to get the benefit your body deserves.

KEFIR is one of the best in the market you can get at this point.

READ MORE on Fermented Foods Benefits here!

    • Yes, I personally think it’s unnatural to drink milk after weening let alone milk from another animal! 🙂 So many other sources for the essentials we need.

      • joann tompkins winborn says

going to check out that KEFIR
I do eat Activia to help counter the affects

        • CoffeeTime says

          Joann,
          Kefir is much more potent!
Activia’s flora is very, very short lived, that’s why they push so much product on you!

    • wendy c g says

I’m going to look for the Kefir when I grocery shopping. I’m interested in how it taste.

    • Rebecca Swenor says

This is very interesting I didn’t even know there was such a study. That is almost scary.

    • constance ralph says

I will be on the lookout for kefir from now on

    • constance ralph says

We do dark a ton of milk in our house though

    • thia beniash says

milk causes diabetic problems? I have never heard of that. this is some seriously confusing information. we are brought up brainwashed to drink milk, now we stop?!

      • I’m also confused. I will def. check with my pediatrician next time we visit. We started off in Israel when my baby was born, I wish I could still refer back to the pediatrician there, but maybe I will call Hadassah hospital where he was born…

    • Rose Lewis says

I assumed that we have been doing this for centuries so to me the study is bogus or everybody in USA ‘S past “WOULD HAVE BEEN DIABETIC..”

    • Virginia Rogers says

Great benefits, will be looking into more, thank you!! 🙂

    • Elicia P says

Wow, I am going to have to read up on that study. Laura, do you have a link. (I will ask on the page as well)

  9. DANIELLE WILLIAMS says

    HEALTH CONCERNS ABOUT DAIRY PRODUCTS

Calcium is an important mineral that helps to keep bones strong. Our bones are constantly remodeling, meaning the body takes small amounts of calcium from the bones and replaces it with new calcium. Therefore, it is essential to have enough calcium so that the body doesn’t decrease bone density in this remodeling process.

Though calcium is necessary for ensuring bone health, the actual benefits of calcium intake do not exist after consumption passes a certain threshold. Consuming more than approximately 600 milligrams per day—easily achieved without dairy products or calcium supplements—does not improve bone integrity.1″

It is possible to decrease the risk of osteoporosis by reducing sodium intake in the diet, increasing intake of fruits and vegetables,5,6 and ensuring adequate calcium intake from plant foods such as kale, broccoli, and other leafy green vegetables and beans. You can also use calcium-fortified products such as breakfast cereals and juices.”

“Individuals often drink milk in order to obtain vitamin D in their diets, unaware that they can receive vitamin D through other sources. Without vitamin D, only 10-15 percent of dietary calcium is absorbed.”

    • Those green leafy veggies are amazing for so many essential vitamins and minerals we need.. 🙂

      • joann tompkins winborn says

I use romaine lettuce and spinach in all my salads. Learned long ago that iceberg lettuce has very little nutritional value.

      • yes, they are!! gotta work on loading up on those more. The darker the green, the more they have, iceberg is light green. so romaine is better…

    • Virginia Rogers says

So true definitely need more fresh greens in my diet!! 🙂 According to my doctor taking vitamin d without the calcium will not raise it, they need to be taken together. I have been for over a year and they cannot figure out why my vitamin d level still only a 6. The nurses and my doctor are working on a delivery that would bring me weekly bag of produce including greens am hoping goes through soon could really use.

    • Rebecca Swenor says

I probably need more calcium at my age.

    • I love fruits and veggies. I rarely drink milk, but when I do I try to drink soy or almond milk. My dairy weakness is cheese and yogurt. :/

    • wendy c g says

We eat a lot of green leafy veggies, big on salads in our house.

  11. thia beniash says

okay. got it. so I take d supplement so I don’t really need milk anyhow. now I have no remorse for not forcing myself to drink it. the only way I like it is with chocolate in it anyhow. I am sure that is not a great thing to have lots of.

    • Most supplements are synthetic so they don’t break down and get absorbed as well as we think.. There was a study of port-a-potties once and they kept finding these little “tic-tac” type things.. when they took them back to the lab and analyzed them, they were identified as vitamins that weren’t digested!! Yikes!!

      • Karen Hinkle says

lets not forget about the sun great sourse to but I always think of my green foods as free food you can eat as much as you like and it is good for us all the way around

    • my mom always bought blackstrap molasses to get us to drink more milk (it has lots of iron) instead of chocolate syrup. I will call the doctor in israel I think, as it seems I can rely on their studies…
