The Foods NOT To Reheat
HASHTAG: #AMCoffee
Who doesn’t like leftovers from the dinner or lunch that truly celebrated out taste buds? I love good leftovers, and I love them hot and nice. However, some of our favorite foods when REHEATED become dangerous to our health. In addition, if these foods were stored incorrectly – reheating only exacerbates the food situation.
With the holidays coming, we tend to eat out more, and cook more, and take extra food from the parties home, too. Here are some pointers on the foods that we should be eating freshly cooked, rather than reheating them as leftovers.
Scroll down to see what foods and why contribute to food poisoning, thus should be left to be consumed when they’re freshly prepared.

Celery, Spinach, Beets
All three are bursting with amazing properties like fiber, phytonutriends, and minerals. Yet when these veggies are reheated, the nitrates inside of them turn toxic and release carcinogenic properties.
If you have side dishes in your leftovers that have one or more of the above , either take them out before reheating the entire dish. Or if you do not like them cold, toss the leftovers to avoid any poisoning at all.
Why should we accumulate carcinogens in our bodies when there’s more than enough stuff we are dealing with already?
This is very very interesting because I didn’t know this and we love beets in my home. I do happen to love them cold too though. Thanks for the awesome information. It is actually a shocker too me.
oh wow did not even know that thanks
Mushrooms
Mushrooms are an excellent source of Vitamin D.
Mushrooms are used in weight management. One of the studies found that to substitute red meat consumption with white button mushrooms can help enhance weight loss.
Long chain polysaccharides, particularly alpha and beta glucan molecules, are primarily responsible for the mushrooms’ beneficial effect on your immune system.
The protein, carbohydrates and fibre found in mushrooms are of very unique composition.
Certain proteins are found only in mushrooms – hydrophobins. These proteins contribute to the texture of the mushrooms.
Other proteins like lectins have anti-cancer properties. Other mushroom proteins appear to have anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties.
Eating mushrooms is doing good to our bodies and well-being.
Reheating mushrooms as leftovers – not so! AVOID doing it!
Mushrooms should be eaten when they’re freshly cooked. Proteins can deteriorate as soon as we cut the mushrooms. As you can imagine, the proteins continue to go bad the longer the dish is stored.
To be on the safe side – Do not store or reheat the mushroom dishes!
Okay definitely love these too. I am so glad you are sharing all of this information. This is all very good to know.
It’s always better to eat our food as we prep it.
Freezing smaller portions could be so helpful, too!
what about them on pizza we reheat that
Potatoes
Did you know that when you cook potatoes and leave them to cool down, the warm temperatures can promote the growth of botulism – bacteria that can kill. This bacteria cannot be killed with microwave heating.
The best way is to get your potato dish right into the refrigerator after it’s been cooked.
You can only imagine that when left in room temperature, potato dish is a good playground for a deadly bacteria growth. When reheating that potato dish, after it was stored improperly, there’s no rhyme or reason why we would want to consume it.
This is indeed another thing I did not know about the warm temperatures and the growth of botulism. What is very scary to me is that it is not killed by heating in the microwave. Very interesting indeed.
wow that is to scary but i away as soon as dinner is done i put it away cant stand for it to be left out
Chicken
The protein composition in this dinner staple changes when the refrigerated product is heated for the second time. That can easily cause digestive troubles, especially for those with sensitive stomachs.
If you’d want to reheat your meat dish – make sure it is thoroughly cooked. The inside should be piping hot!
Now I do admit I kind really like cold chicken legs and sometimes the breast. I do make sure my chicken as well as pork is well cooked before we eat it.
Great to know that about chicken we usally only have spaggitti left over is that fine to recook
oh i dont like chicken reheated or cold
