    BROCCOLI

Eat broccoli as often as you can! It brings into our bodies a load of fiber and cancer-fighting nutrients.

    Your Liver would thank you!

It is a very good source of dietary fiber, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin E, manganese, phosphorus, choline, vitamin B1, vitamin A (in the form of carotenoids), potassium and copper.

Broccoli is also a good source of vitamin B1, magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, protein, zinc, calcium, iron, niacin and selenium.

Plus, scientists have not identified thousands of other nutrients that are alive and kicking in this cruciferous!

Eat broccoli RAW of Cooked, though eating it RAW will get you more nutrition!

    • Amanda Alvarado says

We love homemade broccoli and cheese soup! It’s about the only way I can get our daughter to eat broccoli. She will occasionally eat it raw with ranch but it depends on her mood. She will eat broccoli and cheese soup anytime!

      • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

        Amanda,
        I’d love your recipe!
I am trying different recipes for broccoli.
It is not my favorite to as raw, but I love it in grilled version.
Soup will be lovely way to diversify!

        • Amanda Alvarado says

It’s about a half a loaf of the velveeta (about a pound) cut into squares (or any other cheese spread/ soft cheese). I throw in a can of cream of mushroom and then about half a can of milk. Then about a cup of some type of broth – chicken, veggie, etc. Mix in broccoli – however much you want – fresh, frozen, either works – I usually do about a pound, pound and a half. Mix it all together in the slow cooker and set on low for about 4 hours or high for about 2.

          • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

            Amanda,
I’ll make it and share what I got in return!
            Thank you so much!

            • oh i have mine in the garden and yes it is good for us love my broccoli i am not a big fan of cheese but i eat it raw in soups and steamed no butter or salt for me

              • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

                Karen,
When you have something picked fresh off your garden path and wash it and eat it – the taste is so refreshing.
Those broccoli florets are juice when freshly picked.
                I love it grilled.

    • mary taylor says

I think it also has a lot of vitamin K in it. I can eat as much as I like, I like it raw. But my man has DVT and is on blood thinners so I don’t think a lot is good if its high in Vitamin K

      • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

        Mary,
Yes, broccoli is rich in vitamin K.
Knowing the condition and what affects it gets us research our FOOD supply!
        Bravo to you!

    CAULIFLOWER

Yet another potent cruciferous that aids your liver in getting rid of those toxins that block many functions to happen in our body.

One serving of cauliflower contains 77 percent of the recommended daily value of vitamin C. It’s also a good source of vitamin K, protein, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, magnesium, phosphorus, fiber, vitamin B6, folate, pantothenic acid, potassium, and manganese.

You don’t need to remember all the above stuff! JUST EAT IT!

Is Cauliflower More Superior Than Broccoli?

Broccoli outperforms cauliflower in every major nutritional category, especially for protein, fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium, and vitamins A, C, and K.

Where does cauliflower have the advantage? – Cauliflower contains fewer calories. But, hei, they both are so low in calories. They are amazing veggies that deserve a royal treatment on our kitchen tables!

    • Amanda Alvarado says

Mom mom makes a to die for combination of broccoli and cauliflower sprinkled with garlic powder/salt and cheese that she cooks in the oven. I’ve been wanting to try making cauliflower mashed potatoes but I’m afraid no one here would eat them and it would be a waste!

      • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

        Amanda,
I would encourage you to try it!

I have been making RICED CAULIFLOWER for some time now.
I freeze good portions of it an add it to anything and everything I can.
My son loves it, and he cannot even tell what it is!

        • i know this is all good information but i love my veggies and that is good to know and i have heard ppl using cauliflower as a potato and ricing it i have to give it a try

          • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

            Karen,
I know that you are such a VEGGIE lover!
Knowing why it’s good for us only increases the reasons WHY it is so good for us.

    • mary taylor says

      I love cauliflower raw 🙂

    BRUSSEL SRPOUTS

What the CRUCIFEROUS Vegetables offer to us is a huge number and variety of nutrients, vitamins, and even oils. The number of these nutrients and the concentration is so significant in each of the cruciferous vegetable that eating them benefits every part of our body.

And the cruciferous are potent helpers to our LIVER to clean all the deibris from our blood stream.

Just to give a loud shout-out to BRUSSELS SPROUTS, they carry vitamins C, A, and K, sprouts contain fiber, manganese, riboflavin, copper, protein, thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium.

    • Amanda Alvarado says

      • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

        Amanda,

    KALE

Why KALE is so great for Liver Health is due to its FIBER content!

When we have fiber, it helps elimination out of the body (just one of its many functions).

When the stuff we don’t need is properly and timely is eliminated out of our bodies, LIVER focuses on its function to work on our blood stream and getting rid of toxins there.

Folate and Magnesium within KALE are great nutrients for any stage of our lives.

Cramps in our muscles can be assisted with magnesium uptake. Real food is always better than supplements, especially when we can get THE AMOUNT OF THE NUTRIENT in Enough Portion from the foods we eat.

  6. Amanda Alvarado says

We don’t usually eat kale by itself. It’s either mixed in a smoothie or a salad. We’ve tried kale “chips” but aren’t too fond of them.

    • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

      Amanda,
      Here’s my take on KALE

      1. Smoothies – GREAT!
We can add any quantity without any taste diversion.

      2. FREEZE KALE!
I freeze it in huge quantities, then add to my sauteing dishes: PASTA, RICE, CURRIES – anything goes and takes it greatefully without taste diversion.

      3. Toss it into a SOUP!
I use frozen variety frequently as I have it in my freezer ready and steady!

  7. I love lemons the smell just wakes me up!! and puts life in me

    • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

      Wendi,

        • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

          Karen,
Glad you got familiarized with this leafy veggie!
I love KALE in my salads, soups, sautees. Anything goes.

    LEMONS

Lemons are a natural cleanser with a potent dosage of Citric Acid.

Lemons have been used for all kinds of DETOXING of our bodies. Taking lemon juice diluted in water in the morning aids our liver to get that healthful flush of our blood stream and get rid of by-products from the body’s work at night.

If you consume lemon juice diluted with water every day (approximately 1/2 of organic lemon juice + water, better distilled), it could help your bodily cleansing in a natural way. Skin can benefit, too! It could aid in soothing sore throats during colds.

    GARLIC

Garlic has been studies and tested very broadly. It has a broad range of healing and cleansing properties. All thanks to its aromatic sulfur-containing oils!

Circulatory, urinary, respiratory and digestive systems could be the benefactors of this easy-to-get herb!

What is that pungent taste in garlic?

When garlic is chewed, chopped, or smashed, its alliin (a substance with no smell or taste) mixes with the enzyme allinase to create allicin (a sulfur compound which gives garlic its pungent smell and taste.)

Allicin is the property in garlic that kills bacteria and fungus. It has been shown that the allicin of garlic aids persistent coughs, asthma, ulcers, colds, acne, and fungal infections such as athlete’s foot, eye infections, ringworm, and candida.

Obviously, these properties are a huge sidekick to our LIVER, assisting it in cleansing and eliminating of toxins piling up in our body every single day.

    Eat garlic! To Your Health!

    • yep i sure do love my fresh garlic that i go to get from the garden also we grow all this good stuff in there

    • mary taylor says

I heard this is also good for people who get blood clots, they should eat it raw. I just cant my man to try it raw 🙂

      • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

        Mary,
Garlic is a huge ANTI-INFLAMMATORY herb.
That is why we hear and witness all kinds of stories what these foods do to a human body.
        Reminds us to eat well!

    • Amanda Alvarado says

We love garlic and use it as a spice or fresh with just about everything we cook!

      • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

        Amanda,
        I love garlic!
I remember when I was about 7 yo, and spent my summers in the country with my grandparents, I found garlic there at my grandma’s storage place.
The next thing I knew, I had eaten 2 full bulbs of garlic! My grandma nearly lost her ground when she saw me devouring all that garlic in such quantity.
But I remember I just craved it!
Funny that your comment brought up to the surface this memory.
        Thank you.

    BEETS

BEETS are some of the underused and underestimated vegetable roots in the daily food prep.

Hight in Fiber (in the form of Pectin), beets aid our system cleansing. All those toxins that have been removed from liver, need to be further disposed of – beets can aid in this elimination function.

    Here’s what almost nobody knows.

Beets have the substance called BETAINE.

Betaine is the substance that encourages the liver cells to get rid of toxins. Additionally, betaine acts to defend the liver and bile ducts, which are important if the liver is to function properly. This particular substance is also said by some to decrease the risk of coronary and cerebral artery diseases, as it lowers inflammation in the body, allowing the many systems to work without interruption.

Inflammation, as we keep repeating, is at the top of the list to cause and sustain chronic diseases in a human body.

One more thing you need to know –> They found that BETAINE in beet juice stays intact!

“Beets have been linked to the healing of the liver, a decrease in homocysteine, an improvement in stomach acid production, prevention of the formation of free-radicals in LDL, and the prevention of lung, liver, skin, spleen, and colon cancer. Though these health benefits are not directly linked to the detoxification of the liver, they allow the body as a whole to work more efficiently.”

As all of our organs are interconnected, the above truly benefits our liver in function and healthy maintenance.
