The Laws of Practicing Mindfulness #AMCoffee

Laws of Mindfulness

HASHTAG: #AMCoffee

reflection on life

Mindfulness, when I pronounce this word, resonates within my soul, fills me with a most enjoyable emotion of joy, and sends my face to show a smile.

Mindfulness happens when we are aware of it and practice it in our daily lives. From reading and seeing others doing their own ritual of mindfulness, i.e., their way of living and breathing, I willingly place myself into the loving hands of being in the moment.

It is my choice, my way of seeing life and tapping into a powerful potential of the Universe. I keep these core definition points of mindfulness in several places of my house and reach out to re-read them frequently.

• Being aware of what’s happening in the present moment without wishing it were different
• Enjoying each pleasant experience without holding on when it changes (which it will)
• Being with each unpleasant experience without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t)

When you decide that practicing mindfulness is important to your daily living – you shall discover your own self from a different perspective – perspective of Internal Peace.

The greatest enemy of mindfulness, when good thinking occurs, is BUSYNESS.

I had to learn this one from so many experiences. Keeping myself busy for quick results and gratification of seeing such, truly pulled me away from the opportunities that required more time, more effort and 100-times more success that those mini events that kept me busy.

Find a moment of peace, think through what you are really doing during the day, and how ALL that you are doing making you richer in your relationships, in your personal experiences and financially.

If you are not getting what you desire – something’s gotta give. And most likely, you are the one who controls that giving point, who is closed to open up to new ides, thoughts, people. Thus, doing the same thing over and over again – with a new twist, of course – is the only consolation point leading to nowhere.

Busy means not success when you are not getting what you are looking for.

When you decide that practicing mindfulness is important to your daily living – you shall discover your own self from a different perspective – perspective of Internal Peace.

Hello everyone. I do try to practice mindful living. I purposefully enjoy my morning coffee, taking time to smell the aroma, feel the heat, and savor every taste. After that first cup, I spend time just staring outside at my valley (if the weather permits, I sit on the porch), and breathing deeply. It’s my time to appreciate what I have and be grateful for my blessings.
No matter what the day holds, if I can accomplish this ritual, I feel centered and more peaceful. If things get hectic, I can usually think back to that feeling and stay calmer and cope with stress a lot better.

      • Laura at AMCoffee says

The whole thought of practicing mindfulness resonates with me strongly, too.
When I am not living mindfully, I feel its consequences. Less peace, should I say?
Having rituals is one of the most powerful things that a human being can have!
I have mine little treasures, too.
My coffee or tea is one of them.
I also take moments to reflect and breath.

    • I love this. Practicing mindfulness is difficult, but rewarding. It’s living purposely and being present. This is a wonderful reminder!

    • Rebecca Swenor says

Mindfulness is something I really have to start doing more of so I can be happy and at peace inside. This is a great topic for sure.

Inner Peace is knowing how to belong to oneself, without external validation

    • In order to understand the world, you have to turn away from it on occasion.
    • Sometimes you justify yourself to others when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts. Don’t look for anyone else to give you permission to be yourself. You don’t need anyone’s validation to be happy or to live a good life.

    • Raye Wiedner says

It takes most of us a long time to learn this. If we cannot learn to be happy alone with ourselves, we really won’t be happy outside ourselves.

Your only reality is the moment in the NOW

    • The secret to health for the mind, body and soul is not to mourn the past, nor to worry about the future, but to live the present moment mindfully and purposefully.
    • True wealth is the ability to experience the present moment fully. No other time and place is real. Lifelong peace and abundance is found in such simple awareness.

    • Raye Wiedner says

I find when I’m fully present in the moment, time flies by without my being aware of it. I get in ‘the zone’, and I’m more productive and happier.

      • Laura at AMCoffee says

        Raye,
I enjoy allowing myself to be aware, to be present in the NOW, to listen to what the other person is really saying. Creates a magic moment every single time. And we live with a light heart this way. I love this feeling!

    To Think is to Create

    • If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for almost anything.
    • Keep your morals close to your heart and at the top of your mind.

    • Raye Wiedner says

For me, if I’m not living up to my own standards, and not staying true to my beliefs, my whole world seems unbalanced. I find myself unsettled and uneasy.

      • Laura at AMCoffee says

        Raye,
I also LOVE this “To Think Is To Create” and repeat it to myself frequently. It gives me determination to move forward and stay open to possibilities that I will only see when I am OPEN to new thoughts, ideas, people.

  6. Laura at AMCoffee says

A negative thought is harmless unless you believe it

    • It’s not your thoughts, but your attachment to your thoughts, that causes suffering.
    • Attaching to a thought means believing that it’s true without proof. A belief is a thought that you’ve been attaching to, often for years.

    • Raye Wiedner says

Negativity seems to breed, from what I’ve seen. We all have that little voice in our heads that provides a running commentary on our lives. When that little voice is telling you negative things, nothing will make you happy. It’s time to tell it to shut up and stop lying to you……..that is not our truth………our truth is we are truly all blessed in so many ways. We are all capable women with a lot to offer the world. If my little voice starts telling me negative things, I try to remember that I’ve been through a lot of things–good and bad. I’ve survived them all (sometimes gracefully, sometimes fumbling in the dark…….but I have survived!), and I’m fully capable and worthy of happiness in the here and now.

  7. Laura at AMCoffee says

You are the only one who can do it

    • Others can walk beside you, but they can’t walk in your shoes.
    • Give yourself an opportunity to discover who you truly are, and to figure out why you truly are always alone even when you’re surrounded, and why this is perfectly OK.

  8. Laura at AMCoffee says

Know the difference between the Right and the Easy paths

    • You will ultimately come to realize that the struggle is not found on the path, it is the path, and it’s worth your while. Every step forward may be tough, but will feel better than anything else you can imagine.
    • People don’t stop pursuing their dreams and passions because they grow old; they grow old because they stop pursuing their dreams and passions.

  9. Laura at AMCoffee says

Overcommitting is the opposite of living in peace

    • There’s a difference between being committed to the right things and being overcommitted to everything. It’s tempting to fill in every waking minute of the day with to-do list tasks or distractions. Don’t do this to yourself. Leave space.
    • Keep your life ordered and your schedule under-booked. Create a foundation with a soft place to land, a wide margin of error, and room to think and breathe.

  12. One of my goals in 2016 is to be in the moment – hence my word “Balance.” Sometimes I get so caught up in work that I forget everything around me.

  13. I need to work on a lot of things this year. I can’t seem to find peace when I’m working because of my dog lol. I kid you not, he is forever trying to get me to play and I’ve got to figure out a way to work and keep him happy. I don’t regret getting him but life sure was easier before Peanut.

    • Laura, Celebrate Woman Today says

      Terri,
Peanut is a great addition to your life. Like with anything or anybody, do set the rules and training routine for him.
He will learn and appreciate them. And as for you – you will have the time and more focus to do what needs to be done.
      Love ya!

  14. Sometimes living in the moment is hard to do. But you are right we should be mindful of the moments we are in because you never get them back

  15. I think about this a lot. I was just talking to a friend that told me we spend so much time thinking about either the past or the future that we completely lose our present. It is so important to just be in the moment and appreciate it.

  16. I try to practice mindfulness by just enjoying the moment. This can be done wherever you are. Even just breathing in deeply can change your mood.

  17. It is so challenging to get into the habit of being mindful and in the moment. The payoff is incredible, but I can’t seem to do it in the house or even the city!

  18. Mindfulness is so important, as is being in the moment!

  19. Love this post. “Be Mindful” is one of my daily mantras…it really helps my peace of mind, as well as keeping me focused on my daily activities.

  20. Being aware of what is happening without wishing it were different is so key and a great reminder! I love this post and need to put some of these things into action!

  21. Bonnie @wemake7 says

Ooo prizes, I love prizes. Mindful living is something I need to put into practice in my life.

  22. I love the idea of finding peace practicing mindfulness. I need to get to work on it!

  23. Mindfulness is so important. I have been practicing it and I see the difference in how I respond and react to things I encounter.

  24. Mindfulness is so important. I have noticed that if I am not being purposeful with my time and actions, I run around being “busy” but not accomplishing much.

  25. It takes most of us a long time to learn this! We need to learn how to be happy with ourselves, it comes from inside out!

  26. I am a huge fan of mindfulness! Whenever I’m upset I take a minute to analyze myself, figure out why I’m upset, and immediately find ways to calm myself down. Understanding your emotions and feelings is so empowering.
