Good morning. I know several people that are really overweight.
How do you encourage someone who doesnt care to get healthier
we have the same issue. we’re constantly pulling food out of a relative’s mouth, but he doesn’t care. 🙁 His family is obnoxious and even say things to him like “I hope you have a will” . It’s nasty.
we had a BBQ this weekend I have a brother who really needs to watch his weight and he was eating like a pig and he has diebitic he don’t care to listen
My sister is the same way..she says she wants to get healthy but when I try to encourage her and have her go for walks with me she wouldnt. .and she thinks she is smaller than what she is..some of the clothes in her closet look like they would fit my 5yo

Encouraging someone who DOES NOT CARE after you repeatedly made attempts is not gonna work.
What works in these cases is to ACCEPT a person and not push any weight loss down their way.
But that is different than being INDIFFERENT to their situation.
Be on alert, listen what they really lack in their life.
As you may know from all those posts in our HEART PLAN series, people start not to care or overeat due to something else going in their lives.
When you listen to those people and help them to figure out WHAT it is, you’ve got 10 our of 10!

Very interesting article, gives a prospective I never thought about. Change is very hard and scary.
I lost 20lbs last year and was doing really good. Then my best best friend for 22 years developed calciphylaxis due to battling kindney diseases since she was 17. They gave her 6 month to a year to live. But it progressed so fast she only lived a month. I went back to my home town to be with her, her last couple weeks.
There is always underlined problems that cause you to be over weight. It could be physically or mentally. When I get really depressed I tend to gain a few pounds. When I am feeling really depressed I make myself go visit people or start an old hobby. It helps me get out of my depression.
it’s the same with me, I eat a lot when I’m down. it’s a great tip to combat that…

I have gained some from being in with my grandson but I have learned its up to me to start to eat right and get extercise but that little man keeps his grandma going but I need and have been doing a lot better thas to Laura and the amcoffee I have learned a whole lot and I am blessed to have been a part of a wonderful bunch of ladies here

Be ready to be confronted by some facts and then finding that which works for you.
1. Most weight loss programs suck.

I wasny in try mode when I lost the 20lbs..I was in I’m doing it mode. I didnt starve myself I ate good I just cut out most carbs, sodas, and I exercised a lot and drank a ton of water
This is true about try being a word for failures and I never thought of it that way.
I take great inspiration from my sister – she tried for many years, and she finally succeeded when she just stuck to a healthy diet and exercise.
I am inspired by being here you all are my support system I do so appreciate you all so much as I said I have lost a few lbs and as long as I have you all I will not fail because you are all here for me

I have never been a calorie counter..I dont have time for that and I like food and dont like to feel hungry

for me the “problem” is really that he cannot and will not gain weight, even if he really tried.
I husband tried to be supportive but he will bring junk in the house that I wanna eat.
yes, haha! for a while I was saying we have to stop with the sodas, but then 12 packs went on sale in target… lol! but now he agreed no dark sodas and no phosphoric acid sodas, so I guess it’s one step at a time for a healthier family….
Yup its usually cakes and donuts here. I still only have bout 2 sodas a week which isnt bad, I dont think. I love my filtered water bottle and take it with me everywhere
water is one of the tings I must drink more of and I need to so today I am ready to start I will try to drink as much as I can I need to tell my self its good for me
Get you a good filtered water bottle it makes it so much eaiser for me..if I dont have my brita bottle I dont drank much water
we started replacing our sodas with diluted fruit juices – one part fruit juice to one part seltzer. It’s just as good, and we only have it on weekends. during the week it’s water, seltzer and orange juice. It helped when we got a soda stream.
especially since my husband loves seltzer so it helped with that angle of the problem !! lol
I love flavored water. .and it goes with the low carb thing

no. at my skinniest i’m an 8 bec i have hips. when I’m actually an 8 ppl don’t believe me because I look much smaller. but now post baby I dream of an 8 lol… it upset me so much when rachel won the biggest loser…
I don’t really try to compare my self to celebs they have the money and airbrushing to make them skinny. I love that more celebs arent wanting to be airbrushed. I just want to be the best version of me
I don’t feel bad until I put some pants on and I feel so uncomfortable. .I know dropping 20lb is doable..I just want to feel healthy and happy

That sounds great, I could definitely use the support.
I used to hind my body all the time with baggy clothes etc when I was younger but with age and experience I only care how I feel. I no longer worry about what other think because it is how I feel about myself.

Yup..I try to keep some bbq pork rinds in the house for snacking. They are no carb
lately I’ve been replacing grated mozzarella with my chips. I think it’s healthier!! and I grate it myself so it’s not too expensive 🙂
Do you cook it in the microwave to crisp it up like a chip..I have heard of doing that on atkins but didnt try it..you can do it with peperonis too

Sometimes mine is myself with motivation when I am sore.
Me to Rebecca. But I have realized that sitting around makes me hurt worse. When I get up and move the soreness goes away faster

In many cases, it is contr-intuitive: More moving, More pain.
Actually, movement and stretching can do wonders.
I to some time feel depressed lacking in the social field and no being able to just leave when I want to with my grandson but I have you all now so I feel so much better after I leave here I just want to thank you all for being here and having a social life its important to me you all don’t know how much

You are not alone feeling down and in the dark hole sometimes. I do, too, at times feel like this is the worst ever. But what I force myself to do is to get out of this hole and get back on the path of my Dreams and into the Light.
I pull myself literally into action: take a walk, do 10 crunches, jumper-jacks, smile even I don’t feel like.
These mini diversions are the best to put us back on track and spring into action.

Karen here is a lil advice, set one goal to do one thing a day and complete that goal. Each day you do this you will find it build confidence in yourself because you set the goal and completed it.
I too have very little adult social interaction. Its hard for me to make friends and im a stay at home mom. So love my amcoffee

Walking is a powerful thing!
This and good eating can shave off pounds and increase your health significantly: Less stress, more oxygen, more of friends who walk together with you!
It almost relaxes me when I walk. It gives me motivation I guess.
I love going for long walks by my self..I too find it very relaxing. I miss living down the road from trails. I love walking in the woods and taking pictures
Walking helps me relax, gives me time to think.
