        Hi Dana,
        Glad to see you here!
        Constant research is for Researchers!
It is good that you take time to research and find more data on the subjects that you have concern about. Keep doing it and update on the new info all the time!
Once learned doesn’t mean it stays constant.

God Morning to everyone! 2nd cup of French Vanilla coffee for me! Hope everyone is doing good today!

      • Susan D'Alesandro Wilder says

Forgot to mention that I do a lot of reading & research on Antiques & Collectibles; I’ve been doing this for years and pretty much educated myself very well; I used to set up at the local Flea Market, and more or less specialized in Old Signed Costume Jewelry, Depression glass, Stoneware, Art Glass and some dolls and toys. I thoroughly enjoyed learning, collecting and selling the same.

        • CoffeeTime says

          Love the Antiques subject!
I was into signed costume jewelry at one point of time. Learned and enjoyed it a Ton!

    REMINDER 1 – FOOD PACKAGING

    – Despite the fact that some of the SYNTHETIC chemicals are regulated, people who eat packaged or processed foods are likely to be chronically exposed to low levels of these substances throughout their lives

-Formaldehyde is widely present, albeit at low levels, in plastic bottles used for fizzy drinks and melamine tableware
    – OTHER immune disruptors include –> bisphenol A, tributyltin, triclosan, and phthalates

All these chemicals are not inert, thus, they leach into our food supply.

What Do We Do With That?

    • Comment how YOU try to avoid the chemicals in your daily living when it comes to food.

    eggs packaged

    • kelly Hubbard says

Good Morning, I am KellyJumping in for the first time.. I have been drinking lot of green tea.. We dont drink water out of bottles anymore, we read labels and basically try and avoid processed foods

    • Brianna Ketchum says

I read labels and try to avoid processed food as much as possible!

    • Susan D'Alesandro Wilder says

I am really having a time trying to keep my 17 yr old son from drinking water out of “plastic bottles”. I bought a pretty good purifier for my sink faucet, but he just loves grabbing a cold water on his way out to do things…..any suggestions?

      • Karen Hinkle says

I am a country girl we do a lot of freezing and canning I try not to get much processed foods but sometime we do I know when I cook home cooked meals the taste is so much better then package foods I know its not good for my autistic grandson with all the junk they put in it

      • Carol Yemola says

My hubby and I take water with us to work and we use refillable metal bottles. I found them at our local grocery store in PA, but I bet you could find them online. Keep a couple in the fridge for easy grab and go. You just have to remember to bring them home and refill!

      • Get yourself water bottles and fill them and put in the fridge that way he can grab and go.
You can also place a pitcher in the fridge with water in it for the times when you want something cold while at home.

    • Carol Yemola says

I try to stay away from processed foods, not only because of the chemicals, but because of the sodium content. As far as fizzy beverages, I don’t buy soda. I can’t tell you the last time I drank any! I prefer water!

      • Water is the best. We do not do soda here. In fact I never have anything besides water and maybe almond milk. I always feel bad when we have guest over because I do not have other options for them (besides tea or if I have lemons I will made homemade lemonade)

    • honestly I have to say that I really only keep plastics out of my microwave, and I have heard that your water bottles sitting in direct sunlight also is not a good thing causing leaching, so I keep my water out of the sunlight when in my car or on my desk….etc

    • Jessica D says

We try our best to stay away from processed foods. We even bought a water purifier that we drink from instead of bottle. I’ve even started to grow some of our own veggies

    • I try to avoid anything and everything I can. I have several medical problems and have to be careful of what I eat and do.

    • sarah renee harter says

    • Cynthia Dubuque says

I try my best to buy GMO free foods and beverages.. I also try to avoid anything with artificial sweeteners and high fructose corn syrup

    • I read labels a lot more now. We try stay away from processed foods, drink lots of water. No sodas, eat organic when we can.

    • sarah renee harter says

I try to avoid platic bottle as much as i can and use glass i also try to make meals from scratch its n always possible.

    • Jessica Parent says

I try hard to avoid processed foods but since I HATE cooking and love the convienence of them I find it double hard.I read labels and go “scratch” as often as possible but definitely do not trust half the stuff my kids and I eat

    • I read labels like crazy. There are so many items that I look for on the label and avoid. I posted it on Saturdays chat and I will post it again. It is a list of the Scary 7. Meaning the stuff to avoid.

      1. High-Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)
      2. Trans Fats
      3. Artificial Flavors
      4. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
      5. Artificial Colors
      6. Artificial Sweeteners
      7. Preservatives

If Laura will allow it I can post the link the this article which gives the side effects of each on our bodies.

    • Sharon Asbridge says

We do eat a lot of convenience packaged foods – especially in lunches, or when time is limited for a meal. But my whole family prefers fresh vegetables, or steamed – so at least our veggies are healthy.

BAD BREATH – Oh, MY, WHAT DO WE DO WITH IT?

    – HALITOSIS is the name of “bad breath.”
Many have it as a temporary morning effect, but many suffer from a constant bad breath.

Obviously, you need to go to the doctor to make sure that bad breath is not linked to a more serious condition that is taking place in your body.

However, if you are one of the 80 Million people who have an everpresent bad breath – What are the causes and What is the way of dealing with it.

    • Sources of bad breath: foods like garlic
    • Poor dental care, dry mouth, tobacco products and certain medications and medical conditions
    • Foul-smelling bacteria that live in the back of your tongue – so far that we cannot reach them and remove them with a tongue scraper

What Are The Remedies for Bad Breadth?

    • Rinse with a mouthwash containing chlorine dioxide
It’s been shown to be effective at neutralizing the stinky volatile sulfur compounds created by oral bacteria
    • Scrape the back of your tongue using tongue scraper
    • Floss and brush your teeth
    • Consider rinsing one more time with the chlorine dioxide rinse, keeping with the instructions on the bottle

Was It Helpful? Would You Like To Know About More Innovative Products That Help With Bad Breath?

    bad breath, halitosis

    • Brianna Ketchum says

These tips were helpful I sure woild love to know more stuff to help bad breath

    • Susan D'Alesandro Wilder says

I just read an article yesterday in the “All You” Magazine where they said: “Dip your toothbrush into vinegar and brush teeth thoroughly. It will help prevent bad breath, too.”

      • Carol Yemola says

Interesting. Have to give it a try. And vinegar is good for lots of household cleaning so why not your breath! LOL

      • Oh boy, I could never do the vinegar, I can clean with it but never brush.

        • Sharon Asbridge says

I know – me too! I love to clean with vinegar – but I hate the smell of it – so I couldn’t put it in my mouth. I have used baking soda off and on… It cleans mouth good, don’t like the salty texture, but it doesn’t taste awful.

      • CoffeeTime says

I saw something like that for Whiter Teeth!

    • Carol Yemola says

Since I work closely with people on a daily basis, it is important to have fresh breath. I am constantly wondering how my breath smells to others and chew gum to mask any odor. This however is not very professional. I would love to learn more.

    • Thankfully I myself had dental issues, and now wear dentures. I was always painfully aware of the bad breath I had, and often covered my mouth when laughing or smiling at someone because I had such bad teeth….a hereditary issue that also claimed my mothers teeth by age 20! I managed to make it to 47 before I had all my teeth pulled and got dentures. I don’t regret the dentures, but they are sometimes a pain in the butt.

I have to tell you though that you run into people with breath that would knock a buffalo down an I wonder…..”don’t they notice that?, hasn’t anyone ever said anything to them???” But of course I don’t want to say anything to hurt anyones feelings….

      • When my husband smoked he always had the worst breath. I cold fall over. Now that he quit his breath is not as bad.
I do not think he ever noticed his horrible breath.

    • Jessica D says

All of these tips were great! Even though I already do all of those, I did not know about making sure chlorine dioxide is in the mouthwash I will be starting to look for that from now on.

    • I see that there are products out there to help with this. The tips will also help and very informative. Thank you.

    • Cynthia Dubuque says

These are all good things to know. If there are any other tips, I’d love to know them. We are a garlic eating family so garlic breath is an issue.

    • Great tips.

    • sarah renee harter says

These tips were helpfull but what about usinf baking soda now I’m being told its not goodfor you

    • Jessica Parent says

I’m pretty sure my intense coffee habit and gum disease are the cause of my constant bad breath. I do brush, floss and use rinse (plus see a dentist regularly) but always looking for new ways to combat this issue .I chew a lot of gum as well (but the doc says this actually hurts my teeth)

    • I know I read somewhere many moons ago that drinking water with a lemon in it after eating will help kill and wash away the bacteria in your mouth.
I have also heard that the acid in the lemon eats your enamel. So I do not know what to believe. I on the other hand when out to dinner/lunch will always have a lime in my water.

    • kelly Hubbard says

These tips are so helpful, this is my first time attending but def not my last..

  5. kelly Hubbard says

I would love to know more about things to help me avoid Bad breath.. I drink tea in the morning so I think that helps

    • CoffeeTime says

      Hi Kelly,
Green tea is excellent. Hydration with water during the day, thus supplying our bodies with enough moisture and toxin cleaner liquid – water – could truly improve how we feel and … smell, too!

      • kelly Hubbard says

Actually its funny I found Green tea with Blueberry and Acai.. I love it.. I was half asleep when I posted I drink tea lol.. I found two brands I like for green tea one more then the other.. But I am completely sold on Blueberry and ACai tea..

  6. Megan Swinney says

Why does coffee make my breath stink so bad?

    • CoffeeTime says

      Megan,
      – The caffeine in coffee can dry out your mouth by slowing saliva production, which can lead to bad breath. A lack of saliva causes bad breath.

      – Also Coffee sulforous nature can be broken down by bad breath causing bacteria, thus increasing unpleasant mouth odor.

      – Coffee has a very strong smell that could be the reason for bad smell. That simple.

Make sure there’s no other systemic condition that causes this bad breath.

      • Karen Hinkle says

well don’t have that problem but its good to know any recommendation for future but I know some who have really bad breath

    • Carol Yemola says

Mine too. I always have to chew a stick of gum afterwards to get rid of the taste and the smell.

    • kelly Hubbard says

      Nothing worse then stinky breeath

    onion smell, halitosis

    • Carol Yemola says

WOW! I never realized all those health benefits of onions. I knew they were supposed to be good for you when taken internally, but never realized that they were good for topical applications. I don’t know of any more health benefits. You covered way more than I am aware of.

    • Well I’m happy to know they ‘re good for you, we go thru two bags a week here, we use a lot of them …. on sandwiches, saute’d, in salads etc……we love them! I’ll have to check and see what ONION rememdies I can find!

    • I love onions especially fried or grilled, but never knew about all the rest that one single onion could do for you. Thank you to Dr. Meenakshi Attrey for all the extra information. 🙂

    • Cynthia Dubuque says

I don’t have any recipes for home remedies using onions but I’m definitely going to try frying some with castor oil and going to try it on my back!

    • No I don’t have any remedies. I knew onions are good for you. But I didn’t know how much they can help you. Thanks for the information.

    • sarah renee harter says

No but wow i need to do some more research to find more remedies this is great thank you i knew they were good for you but i didn’t know how good can this remedy be any type of onion

    • Thank you I just learned a lot reading this. Do you have a link to where you got this information so I can keep it for reference.
I do remember reading a wise tale, placing a cut onion under the bed of a person that is sick will make them better.

    • Sharon Asbridge says

My husband’s grandmother used to get a soft onion ( kind of pulpy) and hold it on a wart. She said it would remove warts – an old wives tale, I guess. I don’t know if it ever worked or not.

    • Jessica Parent says

I didn’t have any remedies with onions but love all the fascinating things I just learned (had no idea it would help with hair or bee stings!!)

  8. Good Morning Ladies!

I usually keep myself informed on whatever health issues plague my home. In my case insomnia, arthritis, muscle issues, anemia etc…..my boyfriend also has some health issues that I monitor as well. I’m always up to try a homeopathic treatment first, but I’m not adverse to medicines at all. Just prefer to avoid them when there are natural options.

  9. Susan D'Alesandro Wilder says

Sorry but I LOVE onions, raw, steamed, fried, and anyway you can include them into my meal/food…Think I’ll try brushing teeth, tongue with vinegar and see how that works.

    • Karen Hinkle says

we use onions daily I cook with them and I have one complaint they give me heartburn that’s a lot of good information about them I never even knew thanks for sharing this I will have to give some of them a try

      Hi Kathy,
We do fresh salads daily with healthy proteins like fish (we are vegetarians) or Quinoa or other ancient grains!
