AM COFFEE – Sign In! HELLO, Everyone!

    • What is your take-away from this past week: What are new steps, implementations, changes that you are making in your life?

    sign in am coffee

    • Good morning!! I am trying to get more sleep, and more me time. Just little things like doing my nails makes me feel better. I am getting myself back into an exercise routine.

    • thia Beniash says

learning to do things to relax. quiet bath, music, personal time. also learned more about ovarian cancer. sollidified my decision to get my tubes tied. happy saturday everyone.

    • Carol Yemola says

Hi! I am going to take more time for relaxation. Seems hubby and I are always busy around the house, working, and babysitting grandchildren in our spare time. Time to make relaxation plans for ourselves! We plan on taking weekend trips for our own enjoyment. Let the kids find someone else to babysit. We raised our children. Now let them raise theirs. We love them, but now is OUR TIME!

    • Raye Wiedner says

I’m trying to reduce stress, exercise more (yard work is helping with that), and get more sleep which is hardest for me.

    • Karen Hinkle says

good morning well I am glade I found you all I was with drawing LOL well I have learned to try and pamper me yes me this is hard but I will try and I learned to go to the doctors for routine chek ups and learned ways to keep my shin and feet healthly and I enjoy the chats so much

    • Rebecca Swenor says

Good morning all. I had a reminder to stop stressing about things. Don’t forget that relaxation is the key because in the end it all turns out the way it should. 🙂

    • Jessica Parent says

G00d morning! Im trying to spend more time enjoying the kids and relaxing

    • wendi watson says

I have started to work out a little more after hitting 40 and trying to help spice up my life with my husband!

    • Debra L. says

I’m working on getting sleep earlier. I’ve started listening to music again before I sleep. Took my aromatherapy baths… Trying to release as much stress as possible.

    • Virginia Rogers says

Good Morning, My take away from this week is less stress, need to stop worrying so much about the things cannot change with my health and work more on the things I can, such as diet, quitting smoking and more relaxation!! 🙂

    • thia Beniash says

FOOD FOR THOUGHT FOR OUR EARLY BIRDS, AND SO

Is the only path to permanent weight loss paved with eating expensive pre-packaged foods for the rest of your life? How bland, boring, perverted and expensive is that? And what have you learned from those companies about how to eat to keep the weight off for life?

With them having mostly “REPEAT” customers, it says, “probably not much.” Isn’t it entirely possible that what you have learned from these Weight Re-GAIN Companies is WRONG?

Go to this post and comment there what you think about such “REPEAT” BUSINESS.

    weight loss repeat customers

    • Carol Yemola says

COMMENTED! I hate those quick fix weight loss programs. I do well for a few weeks and then fall right back into my old habits. I find that everything in moderation is the key. I eat what I want, but don’t overdo. And I don’t eat after dinner. No nighttime snacking. I am losing weight slowly but steady. As Richard Simmons says … don’t diet, live it!

    • odas. Its to disappointing to do what they ask of you with minimum results and feel hungry all the time. When you can loose more weight and feel better and not hungry all the time just by eatting better, cutting out a lot of the crap food, dranking lot and lots of water and doing what exercise your body will allow. Mover your body for a better body.

    • Raye Wiedner says

I commented. I have a sister and niece on a food delivery system right now……….for the 4th time each. The other sister finally gave up on it and is exercising and eating more sensibly (fresh fruits and veggies, and portion control)……and I’m hoping she can stick with it.

    • I have taken some weight losd pills, its been mostly for the boost of energy it gives me..I didnt follow their food plan because it seems unrealistic to me. I just trt to watch my portion and the amount of carbs I eat and cut way back on my sodas.

    • Rebecca Swenor says

It really is about the money and it is so wrong.

    • Jessica Parent says

I cant stand those deceiving , thieving weight loss companies. Keeping weight off does require life long changes but not in the forms they offer :/

    • wendi watson says

i commented i have my own thoughts and I just feel that if you can learn to eat in moderation and not over indulge then you can maintain and a little extra cardio

    • Debra L. says

My mantra is- if it didn’t work the first time- it won’t again. It’s a mind set. You need to be disciplined which is not going to come from a boxed meal or pointed snack plan.

    • Debra L. says

I knew sleep deprivation could store fat but had no idea it can actually be such a strong factor in gaining weight!! I realllly need to fix that in myself

    • Virginia Rogers says

Commented, great article and great information, thank you!! 🙂

    • thia Beniash says

it saddens and angers me that a companys success is based on americans failures. losing weight is serious and can affect so many aspects of a persons life. we need to support each other in our goals to become healthy and maintain a safe weight not look at a way to make more money.

    • Ive never bought weight loss food, Im to big on a cheap stake.

      • thia Beniash says

i’m with you. i dont buy weight loss stuff. i do try to buy healthier choices but they are still more expensive than the sugar loaded junk food! when fruit goes on sale i try to eat that all week for snacks.

    Summer Sidekicks We Forgot About

    – Take control of your weight
With fresh produce, you are sure to affect these 4 areas of your body (we all need to know and practice it, with or without weight challenges)

    1. Not Enough Adiponectin
Adiponectin tells your body to burn fat for fuel, but the more fat on your body, the lower your adiponectin levels. To break the cycle and kick start your adiponectin, take a high-quality magnesium supplement or eat lots of seeds and green, leafy vegetables.

    2. Insulin Imbalance
Overweight people often experience some level of insulin imbalance. While this doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a diabetic, it is a major underlying cause of excess weight and obesity. However, a recent study found that consuming 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before a high-carb meal significantly reduces blood glucose levels—if you can stomach it.

    3. Too Much Ghrelin
Ghrelin is the hunger hormone. The more you have in your system, the hungrier you are and the more fat your body stores. New research indicates that lack of sleep increases ghrelin levels, so get 7-8 hours of shuteye. But skip the caffeine and energy drinks, because the resulting crash slows your metabolism and makes you feel hungry, even when you’re not.

    4. Cortisol Overload
Cortisol is necessary for a fight or flight situation, but too much increases your cravings for sweets, stores body fat, breaks down muscle tissue, and can cause depression. Reducing stress is the best solution — if you can find the time to do it in your busy schedule.

Here are some reactions from the crowd:

“I just re-started my daily walk efforts.”
    “I am on boards, too.”
“I am more active in the summer working out in the yard and sweating.”
    broccoli adn corn

    • Carol Yemola says

I have never heard of Ghrelin. Even sounds evil! LOL I always seem to learn something new here.

      • Karen Hinkle says

I seem to do better in the summer time with eating I say it has a lot to do with be able to go out and work in the flower beds and garden and mowing my lawn less time in the house means less time to snake

      • Karen Hinkle says

I tend to loss weight in the summer time more time out side less time in the house and snaking being able to do my flowere beds garden and mowing the lawn that what I love to do plus all the vegg from the garden

      • Me either

    • I like to put the apple cider vinegar in some orange juice with some honey. .it goes down eaiser

    • Raye Wiedner says

I’ve definitely noticed a small weight gain since I’m not sleeping, and the stress level has risen a lot in the last couple of months. With warmer weather, I’m able to get outside more, so that will help me get more exercise. I get so bored sometimes exercising inside, going out to do yardwork or take a walk on the property is so much more pleasant. I’m hoping the local farmers market will open soon so I can get more variety with fruits and veggies. They just seem to taste so much better when they’re locally grown.

    • Rebecca Swenor says

Adiponectin I have to increase and Cortisol I have to decrease. These I really didn’t know about so thanks for sharing.

    • Jessica Parent says

Im not sure if I eat better in the summer or am just more active but it is the colder months Oct-March that I struggle the most with my weight

    • wendi watson says

I am going to ignore Ghrelin from now on! LOL

    • Virginia Rogers says

Have heard of all of these just never knew them by name. Am starting to love not the fact am disabled but visiting nurse service is now helping me gain access to healthier foods, as I do not get out often to shop and most fresh produce does not stay fresh long. 🙂

    • Virginia Rogers says

Have heard of all of these but not by name. One thing have to say,not that I love being disabled, but visiting nurse service is now helping me get weekly access to healthier foods as I do not get out to shop enough and most fresh produce does not last very long.

    • thia Beniash says

so many foreign words. what is all this stuff? my goodness i am looking for simple alternatives like fresh foods without additives and preservatives. then there is not as much worry and i dont have to go to college to learn all this intricate scientific stuff

    • Ive never bought diet food, I may be two big of a cheap stake. lol

Summer is for Saving our Feet

    High Points:
    – Wearing high heels vs no shoes
    – Cold Feet, good or bad? Tip-tip: Circulation needs your attention! Could be connected to smoking, having high blood pressure, heart diseases.
    – Dealing with Bunions, Corns and Calluses.
    – What to do with Hammertoe and Ingrown toenail?
    – Gout, form of arthritis: symptoms and form of INFLAMMATION

GOUT is the result, not a cause of pain in feet.

Gout is the result of bodily INFLAMMATION! YES, that very inflammation that causes chronic diseases, the deadly quartet: heart diseases, hypertension, insulin resistance, obesity.

What happens in case of Gout is URIC Acid gets collected in the feet and starts its Crystallization.
You can only imagine the pain a person is going through.

How can we get rid of Gout? –> All DIET based. Low glycemic foods that do not cause ups and downs of blood sugar and insulin.

PLEASE WATCH THIS SHORT VIDEO ON INFLAMMATION. THAT WOULD OPEN UP A LOT MORE WHAT THIS INFLAMMATION CAN DO TO OUR BODIES.

    PAMPER YOUR FEET

    • Carol Yemola says

Seems that inflammation causes a lot of health issues. I have been adding lots of Green Tea to my diet. May be just mental, but I think I feel better.

      • Karen Hinkle says

I have been eating my fermented foods and yes I am a country girl 100% I do only were my shoes when I head to the store or go out other wise I am bare foot and love it

    • thia Beniash says

after the talk about feet. i soaked mine that evening and basked in the glory

    • My mammaw haf gout

    • I am a bare feet gal too..I hate wearing shoes.. I only wear high heal on the rare occasion. But I am guilt of wearing flip flops a lot

    • Raye Wiedner says

After working for years on my feet, I got plantar fasciitis. When I discussed it with my physician, she gave me a few exercises to try, and suggested sleep boots. Those helped, but I still have pain. She says the next alternative is surgery, so I am doing all I can to avoid that. I do drink green tea and try everything I can to reduce inflammation. I don’t wear heels anymore. I tend to pamper my feet just to avoid future surgery.

    • Rebecca Swenor says

I may have arthritis in my feet My high arches I have problems with wearing certain shoes.

    • Jessica Parent says

I love walking barefoot in the summer but my piggies don’t sppreciate it-besides getting sirty-they get all calloused too. Im gonna stop doing that this year or do a few soaks a week (I found pumice stones during my showers help with sole callouses too) …I hope to reduce stress but with 5 kids home from school I doubt that will happen 😉

    • wendi watson says

I am very lucky that i really do not have problems with my feet lol i feel blessed that the only time they are cold is if i walk in the snow and i can not sleep with socks on! My dad does have gout and gets it in his foot and its very painful but he does a lot more now to try to maintain it!

    • Virginia Rogers says

It is scary saw my grandma go through the pain of gout. Hoping never to get. Doing all I can to change lifestyle so I never get.

    • Maybe its just better to go barefoot all the time.

Go to our discussion threads and scroll through the major points we touched upon. Refresh your recollection of the most powerful knowledge you could ever have about your health.

    Ovarian Cancer Symptoms

    – Bloating or pressure in the belly
    – Pain in the abdomen or pelvis

    – Urinating more frequently

These symptoms can be caused by many conditions that are not cancer. If they occur persistently for more than a few weeks, report them to your health care professional.

Here’s what some of you said:
“it’s so good to be informed of the warning signs.”
“Yes, it is important for early detection.”
“…the more we know, the better and it’s great that they have come so far in treating this [diseases]”
“It is frightening, but always good to know the early warning signs.”
“Early detection is a must with cancer, and so many warning signs go undetected due to lack of knowledge.”

    woman with crossed arms

    • Carol Yemola says

Ovarian Cancer is the cancer that is not usually detected until it has advanced. That’s why yearly exams are important and to be aware of your body symptoms.

    • Rebecca Swenor says

All I have to say is the yearly exams are so important for woman. You may not know something is wrong til it is to late.

    • Jessica Parent says

Ovarian cancer is one of the more “deadly” cancers because it usually spreads before a woman knows she has it…knowing the symptoms and regular check ups with your doc is so important for your health

    • wendi watson says

I just made my appointment I go this week being 40 now i feel i need to pay attention more to my health and ways of staying alert to different symptoms and things that happen in my body but thank you so much i love all this info

    • Virginia Rogers says

Having rare kidney disease some of these symptoms would be hard for me to notice as I already get. Early detection and regular exams is key for me to pray i never get. 🙂

    • Good info, the more we know the warning signs the better.

What’s your favorite points about skin? Anything that you plan to implement asap?

    healthy skin tips

    • Carol Yemola says

I loved this discussion. Made me realize the importance of taking better care of my skin. And I am now faithfully taking Vit C and E!

      • Karen Hinkle says

yes love to get beauty sleep and exfoliate and hydration and vit D to and I love my cucumber mask to

    • thia Beniash says

after this discusssion i learned that tubal ligation can prevent ovarian cancer and it solidified my decision to get it done

    • Raye Wiedner says

For me, the most important thing for skin is sunscreen and hydration. Hubby has had skin cancers removed numerous times due to sunburns when he was younger, so I’m always diligent about sunscreen and cover ups. Hydration is very important to our entire system, but it certainly shows in skin.

    • Dranking lots of water is a must and always use some form of sunscreen. Exfoliating removes old dead skin celks and reveal the fresh new ones

    • Rebecca Swenor says

This is so true in more ways than people know. I have added strawberries to my food list now every time I go shopping.

    • Jessica Parent says

My skin wants a mask but my kids keep eating my ingrdients 😀 LOL

    • wendi watson says

I wowould have never have know to take vitamin E see i keep learning Thank you Laura for all this info!

    • Virginia Rogers says

Working on lowering stress, limit fats, and carbohydrates are what I am doing to implement changes for now. 🙂

    • thia Beniash says

water is most definitely the best thing you can do for your overal health and body. proven time and time again. now the question is…what water? bottled, tap, tap with filters?

    • The more and more water you drink , The better. It would be great if we could wash are face 3 or 4 times a day. But that is unrealist.

but I all so think my hubby is the best man on earth my dad well that’s is another story I wont get in to it lets just say he was not a good person bad bad man my hubby treats me like a queen when he can and he never has let me down like when I desided to adopt our grandson he never once said we need to think about it what I wanted was what I get he supported me all the way that’s why I think I should no be pampred I took on this responsibility so I must do it at no cost to no other it was my decision so I must live with it no complaing just do it sorry ladies I just had to put that out there

        • Raye Wiedner says

You took on the responsibility Karen, but I have to say again, if you don’t take care of yourself, you’re not able to give your best to your family. As far as complaining……..it’s not really complaining when you vent about frustrations and aggravations, it’s letting go of stress by venting and getting it out. Your hubby sounds like a wonderful man and I’m so glad you have him and his support.

    • Raye Wiedner says

I love that name, MANTRY lol.
