The Anti-Aging “Secret”
You May Overlook
HASHTAG: #AMCoffee
I got a visit from one of my friends last week. We had a great tea time together sharing our lives and just plain catching up with each other. She mentioned to me how upset she became one morning when she looked into the mirror and saw her face. She saw more crow’s feet around the eye area, she pouted at her skin tone and how less resilient it was to the touch.
She got so upset that it affected her for the entire day. That is why she really needed to share it all with someone she knew would listen to her anxious reaction.
I shared it with my co-host of the AM Coffee Dr. Karen Vieira who has been so helpful to add her valuable input from the point of view of a medical professionals. She shared her own stories and appreciation for little things in life that can be more potent in prolonging our youthful looks.
We all want to remain young and live a long, healthy life. Companies have been trying to find the answer to this in a pill, food, drink or device that they can sell to you. Unfortunately, the real fountain of youth is not something that can be sold. It is a simple change in how you live that keeps your body healthier longer.
You may be surprised, but the fountain of youth is hiding in the FOOD section of our daily living. Let me explain.
Our original ancestors did not have access to an unlimited supply of food like we do. There were no grocery stores, corner stores, restaurants or bakeries. They had to go hunt for animals and gather fruits, vegetables and herbs. This meant that if they did not kill an animal or find something edible in their wandering around, they didn’t eat.
Our bodies are built to handle this “no-food-crisis.” Feast and famine combination is not just okay with our bodies — it is what our bodies like. Before you move off the grid and start living a hunter/gatherer lifestyle, though, let’s talk about simple ways we could apply this method – called intermittent fasting to our lives.

AM COFFEE – Sign In! HELLO, Everyone!
Our thinking is so very much conditioned to the culturally-accepted ways of living and thinking.
We think that our beauty and youth are directly dependent on skin care products. What we at times miss is that the fountain of youth is within the foods or no foods we eat on the daily basis. Let’s explore it a bit more. Check out the comments for the DISCUSSION POINTS.
So happy to see you today here! Come over when you can. AM Coffee is for early birds and not-so, too! It is open all-day-long, as we do have different schedules we live with.
Stay with us every morning, win prizes, but mostly, make awesome friends!

good afternoon
Hello! I am so excited about this topic. I first heard about it through a friend on FB a few weeks back and became curious about intermittent fasting.
Been a rough day here in baby land. So this is a evening post for me!

Fast Weekly or Occasionally
Once a week or just occasionally, it is okay to not eat at all and fast, having only water all day. Before you come up with a million reasons why you can’t do this, just commit to trying it once and seeing how it goes. I thought I couldn’t do it when I first read about it a decade ago. But then I tried it and I surprised myself at how easy it was.
I am going to try this idea.
I think I will try to start doing this weekly. I love water and it can actually be quite filling.
This is interesting however as a nursing mama who is constantly hungry I wonder how this would go over with me.
Maybe as a non nursing mama I could do this.
i really need to do this
Have a Fruits and Vegetables Day
Other days it would be good to just have some berries and a salad as your entire nutrition for the day. Try having days where you eat very light – no meat, no heavy starches. Just have a day of fruits and veggies.
Another idea that is very doable. I think I do this already some days with out even trying.
I can do this. As a vegetarian it would be pretty simple.
i do this some time you just need to do it i know my hubby needs his meat lol
My husband “thinks” he needs his meat but he doesn’t get it much here. I cook meat maybe once or twice a month for him.
Pig Out Some Days
Some days it is okay to “pig out” and eat three big meals with snacks in between. But since this is how most of us live every day, let’s make sure to make this only some days rather than every day.
Well I can tell you my next pig out day will def be Thanksgiving! Hahhaa! Bring on the turkey!
Yes, as long as the indulgence is not every day!
i agree i tell you i don’t eat to much i am a snaker wrong foods though
Too Much Food Is Our Downfall
But living the current lifestyle of never fasting, must have breakfast, must not skip a meal, needing snacks in between meals does not give our bodies a chance to “reset” and keep us healthy. Our access to so much food has become a bad thing.
I agree .. we have to watch our portions.
It is so crazy when you think of how lost people would be with out access to the supermarkets.
I am a grazer I do not sit for meals. I have always been like this and my body is accustomed to it. Personally eating on demand works well for me. I am less likely to “pig” out.
well i as a gal who eats mostly off the land eat what i grow in my garden and i put it up for the winter to have all that processed food is not good for us even the meat we hunt mostly for our meat and fish
Fountain of Youth We Haven’t Heard About
The concept of occasional fasting and eating in a feast or famine fashion is known as “caloric restriction” or “intermittent fasting.” Numerous studies have found that people who live a caloric restricted lifestyle live longer. Hence why I say it’s the free and simple fountain of youth.
The Intermittent Fasting Can Be Done in One of 3 Ways:
#1 You only eat within an 8-hour window each day
Another version
#2 One day a week you do not eat more than 600 calories that day
Another version of it
#3 You eat for 2 consecutive days 800 calories per day or less each month.
All of them work by controlling your blood sugar levels and lowering your insulin response!
i like knowing it can help with blood sugar levels. going to make my fiance try this out too.
Good morning everyone. A fasting day with just water is a good idea after a “pig out” day like Thanksgiving Day, which we have coming up on Thursday in the US.
I may just do that. Great day to start.
That is a good idea. The cleanse of sort! I like how you broke it down to make it manageable as well.
i have heard of the 8 hour window sound interesting
