Reminders that Make a Difference

Here at AM Coffee we are to support our community on whatever your needs and goals in life are. Digging for the facts from the peer-reviewed studies, new discoveries and facts, brining experts on different topics – that and more makes each and every one of us be more aware of what IS, and what IS NOT. Today’s topic is about the “secrets” on losing weight without tortures of diets and different fads that I won’t have even space to mention all!
Here are things we’ve talked about in our earlier AM Coffees, and something new, too.
Vitamin D3
Recent research indicates that low levels of vitamin D3 is connected with obesity rates. Getting enough vitamin D3 will release more leptin – a satiety hormone – thus, telling your body that you are full.
LEPTIN – a hormone made by adipose cells that helps to regulate energy balance by inhibiting hunger. Leptin is opposed by the actions of the hormone ghrelin, the “hunger hormone – Wikipedia
Make a note of this finding and check out with your doctor if your levels of vitamin D are where they need to be.
Vitamin B Group
Vitamin B group reduces the amount of cortisol – stress hormone – that is responsible for storing fat, especially in our bellies. Without sufficient levels of vitamin B group in the body, we are more susceptible to stress. A complex B supplement or food rich in vitamin B could be all you need.
One of the best ancient grains that is rich in vitamin B, among other nutrients, is KANIWA. It is called baby quinoa and is considered of the excellent sources of complete protein and amino acids. It is also exceptionally high in Iron and is Gluten FREE.
Quercetin
This nutrient belongs to a powerful group of antioxidants. One of its roles besides being a great fighter of free radicals is regulating blood sugar. And we know how important normal blood sugar is. Spikes in blood sugar trigger cravings that lead to munching on the foods that we need very little of in our lives.
Where to find Quercetin? Think blueberries, blackberries, red grapes, apples, green leafy veggies, broccoli, parsley, olives and olive oil. Wow, here’s a sample of foods you can munch on any tine you want!
Add foods rich in quercetin with every meal to slow the metabolization of sugar, thus avoiding sugar spikes that lead to cravings. It would definitely contribute to shedding stubborn pounds and eventually to maintaining your optimal weight.
Polyphenols
Again, these are the nutrients that are characterized by their strong antioxidant powers. Polyphenols boost metabolism naturally! Load up on the foods – whole foods – that boast generous amounts of polyphenols: Strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, pomegranates, green and black tea, and dark chocolate!
L-Carnite
You do know the importance of amino acids. They are the building blocks for many proteins and take part in our body’s rejuvenation. Without amino acids, our bodies would be deplete of nutrients the body needs to stay in shape and well-functioning.
L-carnite amino acid helps to increase muscle mass and decrease fat content. This amino acid converts fat into energy. What a treat!
Our bodies cannot make enough of L-carnite. Check with your doctor if it is OK to take supplementation for this amino acid to help you to metabolize fat.
Omega-3 DHA
Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid that trigger fat burning on a cell level. Its presence improves the levels of leptin – a satiety hormone – that turns off cravings and hunger pangs. Supplementing with Omega-3 DHA is important. But like anything else, talk to your doctor! Here’s AM Coffee that talks about foods rich in Omega-3 DHA.
Protein
If you are a meat eater, then do know that fish and meats in a regular grocery store do lack the amino acids, vitamins, minerals that the grassfed beef and wild caught fish contain. Look for Organic varieties that have a much better nutritional profile which will truly provide more nutrition per the same amount of product. Paying more for organic means you will receive the nutrients your body needs from a smaller amount of product.

We are on the south side of where Harvey is hitting so prayers would be appreciated especially since we don’t have flood insurance! Perfect ending to the week – hubby was hit in his truck coming home yesterday so we are down a vehicle – now a lovely hurricane the Friday before we get students! Breath in breath out!
